PATTERN PRINTS is an ongoing series of relief prints that originated from sketchbook drawings. The images arose from a wide field of sources, including furrowed bark, branch structure, architectural forms, the movement of water, and even those swooping haircuts in 1950s and ‘60s barbershop posters.

Translating drawings to printmaking, marks into carved linoleum, requires a new way of thinking about line/gesture—instead, I was thinking in layers. I wanted to arrive at forms that are somewhat recognized but impossible to name.
